2nd German-Swedish Seminar on "Nanotechnology in Medicine and Bioengineering"

One year after the very successful meeting at the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) in Stockholm on the subject of Nanomedicine in Sweden and Germany, a further seminar will now be arranged on November 22, 2005 in Rostock, Germany.
The Seminar will be jointly organised by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the International Bureau of the BMBF and the BioCon Valley GmbH/Greifswald on the German side and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and the Swedish-German Research Association (STYFF) on the Swedish side.

The programme will contain the following main items:

Recent trends in Nanotechnology in Medicine and Bioengineering, presenting stand and directions of German and Swedish research and development

National programmes, including a presentation of "Nano4Life - a leading innovation programme for Nano in Germany" and "Themes in a Swedish Nanotechnology Strategy"

A European Technology Platform on Nanotechnology

Ethical aspects, including a discussion on the potential conflict between what is technically possible, medically desirable and ethically acceptable

Production, Business and Finance aspects, including the presentation of two significant cases

Examples and experiences covering two cases each from Germany and Sweden with a potential of expanding bilateral cooperation.

A reception hosted by the Rostock Senate and the Lord Mayor of Rostock will conclude the programme.

The time-table of the conference will take into consideration the ferry connections between Trelleborg and Rostock, in order to make it possible to travel at a special rate and avoid major lodging expenses.

Hinweise zur Teilnahme:
A nominal fee of 30 € (15 € for students) will be charged for each participant.
