Microelectrode array (MEA) technology has matured and has become a valuable electrophysiological tool in basic research and drug discovery. Micro-fabricated electrode arrays, cutting-edge electronics, user-friendly software and progress in cell and tissue culturing enable multi-electrode stimulation, recording and analysis of electrical activity of single cells and cell ensembles from brain, retina, spinal cord, heart and muscle tissue.
We would like to invite you to attend the 5th International Meeting on Substrate-Integrated Micro Electrode Arrays in Reutlingen in July 2006. Our biannual meetings offer a comprehensive overview of all aspects related to current MEA-applications.
Participation is open to researchers from academic institutions and industry who are interested in new developments and the broader application of MEAs in basic and applied science as well as in industrial drug discovery.
There will be a special session on automated electrophysiology aimed at stimulating disussions on the current and future demands on electrophysiological techniques and assays.
Our meeting will begin with an afternoon workshop on Tuesday, July 4, 2006. Oral and poster presentations will be held from Wednesday to Friday, with the last session ending at noon on Friday. After MEA 2006, participants can conveniontly proceed to the 5th Forum of European Neuroscience in Vienna, Austria.
