Are you looking for a forum at which users and manufacturers of lasers can meet with R&D specialists to share their experience and learn about the newest developments in the field? Would you like to get together with likeminded professional people from different sectors of industry to discuss the latest trends in laser technology and gather ideas for future activities, without the rush of overcrowded conference venues or trade-shows? Then AKL08 is the right event for you! For the seventh time, laser manufacturers and users from diverse areas of industry will be meeting in Aachen for the 2-yearly International Laser Technology Congress AKL. Featuring over 400 participants, around 50 conference speakers and 30 sponsors, this event has established a reputation as Germany's leading forum for applications of laser technology in the production environment. Supporting organizations include European Commission, ELI and industrial associations such as EUROM, SPECTARIS, VDA, VDMA and VDI. And AKL08 will extend the scope for exchanging new practically-based ideas by inviting overseas participants for the first time. All lectures are being made available in both German and English versions. The AKL forum has thereby opened its doors to a mixed European and global circle of users.
Applications and trends once again represent the main focus of AKL08. Examples drawn from industrial practice and innovative R&D projects permit visitors to gain a clear overview of the present state of the art and future prospects of laser technology. The results of collaborative research projects on a European scale are being presented through close collaboration with the European Commission, thus creating a platform for new projects. Side-exhibits accompanying the congress offer an ideal environment in which to exchange information about products and services. In addition to the lectures held by laser experts in industry and science, around 60 live presentations of typical future applications of the latest systems and processes will be demonstrated on the premises of the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology and by the companies hosted by its applications center.
The Technology Business Day on May 7, 2008 aims to attract the attention of business executives, marketing managers, sales managers, and other management staff with a particular interest in laser technology. The present status and future development of the laser markets will be elucidated by marketing specialists and experienced industrial analysts. On the same day, May 7, 2008, newcomers will be able to experience their first handson encounter with the fascinating world of laser technology by attending the seminar "Laser Technology ABC?s". Regardless of the user's specific area of interest, be it automotive engineering, aircraft engineering, electrical engineering, microsystems engineering, mechanical engineering or machine tools, AKL08 will present all users with interesting innovations. Here at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology, in view of the resoundingly positive response by visitors to the last edition of the AKL Congress, we are convinced that we will be able to meet your needs again in 2008.
