The plant engineering and the chemical industry have emerged from the economic crisis with partly solid, partly tremendous growth rates. But the global competition has not been asleep in recent years and has caught up technologically. Thus, it is all the more important that the industries sustain and expand the innovation margin. The most important platform for this will be ACHEMA 2012. From June 18-22, 2012, engineers, chemists, technicians, biotechnologists and many other experts gather in Frankfurt in order to explore over four days what almost 4,000 exhibitors from all continents are offering. The dialogue between manufacturers and users is essential in the identification of new chances and the mobilization of synergies.
The Special Show 2012 is dedicated to „Innovative Energy Carriers and Storage“. Concepts for efficient storage and transportation of energy – not forgetting the buzzword “e-mobility” – are challenges of the future whose handling depends strongly on the contribution of the chemical process industry. In view of rising demand and intensified funding programs, an innovation surge is literally in the air and can be expected especially in the fields of battery technology, solar-chemical processes, photovoltaics, supercapacitators, fuel cell technology and the hydrogen economy.
Biotechnology and environmental technology are integral general topics at ACHEMA that constitute a general theme across all exhibition groups. Both exploit the technological solutions provided by process engineering. The holistic concept of production-integrated environmental protection has become a hallmark of ACHEMA. Nowhere is the integration of molecular and industrial biotechnology so tangible: bio-based products are making an increasingly strong impact on the market, paving the way towards the bioeconomy. This goes hand in hand with a structural change encompassing the major part of the process industry – and ACHEMA provides a forum where interdisciplinarity is traditionally writ large.
With a program featuring over 900 lectures and attracting some 27,000 participants, the Congress is the second cornerstone of ACHEMA. It reflects the whole range of topics from the exhibition and showcases technologies and trends that one can expect to see three years later in the exhibition halls. A special focus is on the bio-based economy: The conversion of the economy towards an increased use of renewable resources, whether for energy generation or in the development of new bio-based products, is an essential driver for innovation in the process industries. Additional focal points of the congress are process technologies and materials science. Panel discussions and plenary lectures with high-ranking experts take up topics of general and societal interest. Numerous special and guest events, among them the NAMUR Expert Round Tables and the International ISSA Workshop complete the broad program of ACHEMA.
In addition, young engineers and scientists will find a lot of information on successful applications, career opportunities and career planning.
