The lectureship is financed by a fellowship that will permit a post-doctoral academic from an African university or research institute (Sub-Saharan Africa) to carry out teaching and research at the University of Vechta. The accepted lecturer will carry out a research project within the field of intercultural competence and incorporate this in his/her teaching. The lecturer should plan on being an active member of the University of Vechta by taking part in interdisciplinary exchange with its academics and students as well as by making presentations to the interested general public at events (lectures, seminars, workshops etc.).
Applicants must have a doctoral degree. Applicants from all academic fields are welcome to apply. The proposal for the research project on intercultural competence can be from the applicant’s respective academic field such as social sciences (sociology, political science, educational science, psychology, social work, sports science, gerontology etc.), cultural sciences (philosophy, theology/religious studies, ethnology, ethology, philology, history, art, music etc.) and agronomy.
The lectureship will be financed by a monthly fellowship amounting to € 1,500.00. Applicants will receive financial assistance for travel costs upon application. The lecturer will be able to use university facilities and will be aided by a student assistant.

Applicants must submit a project proposal as well as two letters of reference from proven academics along with the application (as well as a c.v. with passport photograph, academic background, and list of publications).
