The DIGITAL TURN New Competences Made in Europe – Learning and Education for a Smart Europe

The ELIG conference will investigate how the development of digital competences and skills can be supported on a broader scale and more holistically than today in all levels of the European education systems. In this context we will also investigate trends and leading examples of corresponding learning innovations from the viewpoint of learning- and educational providers as well as institutions.

Digitization of our societies and economies has profound impacts on every European. In Berlin, the town of Wilhelm von Humboldt, this year’s ELIG conference co-organized with the German Stifterverband and the FernUniversität in Hagen is sparking a debate on how the classical education ideal of empowering the individual to lead a selfdetermined, active and responsible life in society translates into the modern society.

What skills are needed to become an active builder of opportunities in an increasingly interconnected world thus harnessing the potential of digital technologies rather than being passively impacted by its effects?

The ELIG conference will investigate how the development of digital competences and skills can be supported on a broader scale and more holistically than today in all levels of the European education systems. In this context we will also investigate trends and leading examples of corresponding learning innovations from the viewpoint of learning- and educational providers as well as institutions.

2 Days of discussions and workshops about learning, education and digital competence in Europe!

We expect excellent speeches and inspiring discussions in an exclusive group of more than 120 registered ELIG members and guests, like Verena Metze-Mangold, President of the German Commission for UNESCO.
Founder from iversity, Edkimo, Scolibri etc. will provide us an insight into the lively start-up scene in Berlin. Vincent Zimmer, Co-Founder of the Wings University will address their ground- breaking concept that might change the way of integration and higher education for refugees.
