Research in inorganic chemistry is the key to manifold applications in industrial fields and covers as diverse fields as materials development, energy generation, energy storage or consumer products. Applications in modern electronics, solar cells, polymers, batteries or paints and finishes are just a few examples of the importance of inorganic materials for everyday life. At the 29th ATC 2020: Industrial Inorganic Chemistry - Materials and Processes, experts from industry and academia present and discuss the latest science, providing the chance to get a holistic view of the field and explore cross-sectoral topics - a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange and the development of new ideas!

Focus topics from research to application
ATC 2020 sets a spotlight on
• “Sol-Gel-Chemistry”: Sol-gel chemistry or chemical solution deposition can be applied to produce a wide range of materials from colloidal solutions. Discrete particles, e.g. metal oxides, polymers or hybrid materials are accessible. The development and use of sol-gel processes requires a thorough understanding of colloid chemistry, the choice of the right percursor, as well as expertise in drying and crystallization
• “Industrial Inorganic Chemistry”: From processing to analytics and the search for new solutions that meet sustainability requirements and address raw material bottlenecks, industrial inorganic chemistry requires the close cooperation of chemistry, material science and process engineering.
• “3D-Printing of inorganic materials”: Additive manufacturing and 3D-printing of inorganic materials opens a range of new applications. The variety of available materials and printing technologies allows for customization of solutions for diverse applications, but also requires a deep understanding of materials and processes.
High-profile plenary speakers
True to the aim of stimulating the exchange between industry and academia, lecturers from companies will alternate with lecturers from universities and research institutions. The following speakers have already confirmed their participation:
• Prof. Sanchez (College de France, Paris) : Sol-Gel-Chemistry
• Dr. Carsten Plüg (Merck performance materials): Effect Pigments through Sol-gel-Processes
• Dr. Karl Hesse (Wacker AG): Hyperpure Polysilicon as base for the Semiconductor and Solar Industry
We are awaiting further invited lecturers from BASF, Osram and Evonik. All speakers will discuss issues under the given topics.
A forum for young researchers
Young researchers are encouraged to submit their work and use this event as a first class opportunity to come into contact with potential employers as usually more than one third of all attendees of the conference come from industry. A poster prize will be awarded.
