The course is separated into lectures in the morning and practical pool training in the afternoon. Topics of the lectures can be adapted to the participants and will be e.g. oceanology, geoscience, hydrothermal systems, submarine volcanism, sampling (water, gas, sediments, rocks and biota), measuring equipment (e.g. temperature, pH, ORP, EC) or photo and video documentation. At the beginning and at the end of the course a two day dive camp with practical training in freshwater lakes takes place. Scientific under water work like e.g. transect line, documentation, lift bag, using measuring devices, sampling and dive planning will be trained. The dives will take place in 2 different fresh water lake.
Course fee:
1150 Euro Modul I: Including training, printouts, entrance fee public pool and dive spots, fee for guest student enrolling, accommodation during the 2 dive camps (4 nights in multi bedded rooms), air for diving, dive weights in pool and lakes. Not included: accommodation in Freiberg (except Camps), food, travel costs, diving equipment
Module II: When: September 2022 (practical training) probably 27.08.-10.09.2022
Where: Sveta Marina, Croatia (*alternative “Volcano Diving at Panarea”)
What:
The excursion will be a two weeks research project in the marine environment of Croatia. During the field trip the participants work on a scientific topic. Different working groups offer topics such as geology, hydrogeology, water chemistry, marine biology, heat and material
transport or photo and video documentation. Own ideas and topics from the participants are very welcome.
Course fee:
2100 Euro Modul II: Including training, accommodation in Croatia (12 nights, 4 bed apartment), entrance fee diving, air for 12-16 dives, dive weights and computer, fee for 2-4 boat dives. Not included: food, travel costs, diving equipment.

Requirements for participation
- CMAS **, AOWD/RD or equivalent (copy of certificates and logbook)
- scientific degree like Bachelor, Master, PhD or enrolled as student
- student identity card (guest student at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, organized by SDC)
- document with proof of diving suitability (medical certificate)
- information about diving history and scientific background
- payment of course fees
