Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw) acts as media partner of Science Year 2014 “The Digital Society”. From 14 April to the end of 2014, idw will revise press releases to short news for the website of SY2014 http://www.digital-ist.de, an initiative launched by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The press releases stem from idw member institutions. They are selected from the Ministry’s project manager, DLR. Idw is responsible for editing selected press releases for SY2014’s website and its Twitter channel.
With this order, idw is now working for the first time in the field of editorial services since its founding almost 20 years ago. Idw (idw-online.de), founded in 1995, is the news portal for up-to-date information from science and research. It brings together the scientific community and the public by publishing news items and schedules of events from its member institutions and by distributing them to over 32,000 subscribers, including 6,500 journalists. In addition, it offers an expert recruitment service, which enables journalists to find suitable scientists for their subjects. Idw members include 919 universities, colleges, research institutes, national research institutions, ministries and foundations in eleven countries across Europe.
