Yesterday, the General Assembly of ScanBalt? fmba approved the acceptance of affiliated members into the organization. Affiliated members can i.e. be regions, companies, networks and institutions which are not physically located within the original ScanBalt BioRegion but would like to strengthen ties with Life sciences on Top of Europe for mutual benefits.
Prof. Hans-Robert Metelmann, Chairman of ScanBalt says "Encouraged by the interest from other regions to collaborate with ScanBalt BioRegion we have decided to establish affiliated memberships. The aim is to support our members in their constant strive to identify new opportunities for doing business, establish research collaborations and attract competencies and resources. It is a step forward for ScanBalt towards promoting Global Match Making".

About ScanBalt BioRegion and ScanBalt
ScanBalt BioRegion is a meta-region composed of Life Science actors in the Nordic and Baltic countries, Poland, Northern part of Germany and North western Russia. ScanBalt BioRegion includes regional networks of universities, industries, hospitals, public institutions and other important actors within life sciences and relevant social sciences. The not-for-profit membership association ScanBalt fmba was established June 2004. The aims of the regional networks constitute the basis for the not for profit association ScanBalt. ScanBalt acts as a service provider for the ScanBalt BioRegion Community with a secretariat located in Copenhagen and liaison offices in Tartu (Estonia), Gdansk (Poland) and Rostock (Germany).
