Mit ihrer Entwicklung von 99,99 Prozent Luft und 0,01 Prozent graphitischen Kohlenstoffs belegen die Tüftler der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) und der Technischen Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) seit gestern, (Donnerstag, 19. Juli) den ersten Platz unter den TOP 40 der Fachzeitschrift „Advanced Materials“. Gemeinsam gelang den Wissenschaftlern die Herstellung des zurzeit leichtesten Materials der Welt. Das Leichtgewicht mit Namen „Aerographit“ zeichnet sich durch einzigartige Eigenschaften aus. Es ist beispielsweise pechschwarz, stabil, elektrisch leitfähig, verformbar und undurchsichtig. Dadurch sind zahlreiche Anwendungen von Batterien bis Satellitentechnik denkbar.
