For us, the protection of your personal data is a matter of course. We wish to provide you with information on data protection in our association and assure you that we observe the standards of the BDSG (German Data Protection Act) and the TMG (German Telemedia Act) and act in accordance with the regulations contained therein.
Pursuant to § 3 Paragraph 1 of the BDSG (German Data Protection Act), individual items of information on the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable private individual are a subject matter of data protection. Among other things, this includes information concerning the name, the postal address, the address for electronic communication (e-mail), the telephone number etc., but also usage data such as the IP address.
As a basic principle, the provision of personal data by the user and the storage of such data is not required for using the Internet page of the association Informationsdienst Wissenschaft e. V. – idw. For instance, this applies to the reading of current press releases from members of the association and to searches performed in the archive of the association.
To meet its contractual obligations (for example to forward press releases on the basis of a concluded subscription), however, the association requires your personal data. For instance, this applies to the sending of messages within the framework of your subscription or to the answering of inquiries made by you.
Provided you have decided in favour of a gratuitous subscription, we shall – as a matter of principle – collect and store your personal data only to the extent required for provision of the contractually owed services or for the personalisation of our Internet page.
In the event that your access is signed off, your data shall be deleted by the association without delay unless you have given your explicit consent to more far-reaching use of your data.
If you have registered with your e-mail address for the sending of subscription notifications, we shall possibly also use your e-mail address for the forwarding of notifications about the association itself.
As a matter of course, we shall comply with the principle of earmarked data usage and only collect, process and store your personal data for purposes, for which we have received an express declaration of consent. There shall be no forwarding of the personal data to third parties without your express consent. Any transmission of your data to public authorities and institutions entitled to receive the corresponding information shall take place exclusively in the framework of legally established duties to furnish information or in the event that a court rules in favour of such a duty to furnish information. To render possible the optimisation of our website, we shall collect and save non-personal data such as the date and time when the page is called up, the page from which you call up our page and similar information. In this context, you will not be identifiable for us as an individual person. Data collection and data storage shall take place on an anonymised basis without personally identifying the respective user of the page. This shall not apply, however, if you have acquired a gratuitous subscription or chargeable membership: in this event, we shall store your personal data in accordance with the data entered by you in the course of the registration process etc. Furthermore, we shall use “cookies” for the purpose of smooth implementation. These cookies shall likewise collect data only in an anonymised or pseudonymised manner. Our Internet page shall be protected against unauthorised access through diverse technical measures in line with state-of-the-art technology.
On conclusion of one or several subscriptions, you shall receive press releases etc. that comply with the focal topics selected by you. The press releases etc. shall be sent to the e-mail address indicated by you.
Furthermore, there shall be the possibility to link the press releases etc. published on our Internet page to your Facebook.com, Twitter.com or Google+ account by means of a “share button” or “tweet button”. In this context, please note that personal data may be transmitted in the course of the linking process. On using the corresponding share or tweet function, you shall be considered as providing your consent to transmission of the personal data that have been made available to us.
Moreover, we shall be pleased to provide you with information on the data, which we have stored about you, at any time and free of charge. For such information, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or use the other contact establishment possibilities (see legal notice). Please make use of the identical contact establishment possibilities if you wish to have any data collected by us either blocked, corrected or deleted.
Receipt of the press releases etc. can be terminated at any time. You shall be able to terminate the receipt of press releases etc. at any time through changing the settings in your profile or sending an informal message to email@example.com. As a matter of course, you are also welcome to use the further contact establishment possibilities referred to in the legal notice.
Furthermore, you shall be entitled to revoke your consent to the receipt of e-mail messages from us at any time. For this purpose as well, a simple message using the contact establishment possibilities referred to in the legal notice shall be sufficient.
