Der FU-Alumnus Wilfried Brauer gehört zu den Pionieren der Informatik in Deutschland: Im Sommersemester 1967 hielt er an der Universität Bonn die erste Informatik-Vorlesung in Deutschland mit dem Thema "Algorithmen und Formale Sprachen" und gab 1968 mit Klaus Indermark, Professor für Informatik an der RWTH Aachen, das erste deutschsprachige Informatikbuch heraus.
In einer akademischen Feierstunde verleiht der Fachbereich Mathematik und Informatik der Freien Universität Berlin die Ehrendoktorwürde an Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Wilfried Brauer/Technische Universität München. Die Laudatio hält Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.mult. Wolfgang Wahlster vom Deutschen Forschungszentrum für künstliche Intelligenz/Universität des Saarlandes. Im Festvortrag spricht Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.mult. Grzegorz Rozenberg von der Universiteit Leiden über "Computational Acrobatics in Living Cells".
