Lehrstuhl für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeographie
Gerd Peyke, Jahrgang 1948, studierte zunächst Physik an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München (Diplom 1972), bevor er sich der Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeographie und der Geoinformatik zuwandte (Universität Augsburg, Promotion summa cum laude 1979). In Fortsetzung seiner Tätigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter arbeitete er in Augsburg u. a. über Regionale Informationssysteme (Habilitation 1985). Von 1988 bis 1993 war er am Geographischen Institut der Technischen Universität München, zwischenzeitlich 1992 in Innsbruck (Gastprofessur) tätig.
Zum 1. Oktober 1993 folgte er einem Ruf an die Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin auf die Professur für Geographische Informationssysteme und ihre Anwendungen in der Geographie, bevor er an die Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg wechselte. Prof. Peyke ist seit 1994 Sprecher des Arbeitskreises "Geographische Informationssysteme" der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Geographie.
