Elizabeth McCracken, Ellen Maria Gorrissen Fellow an der American Academy in Berlin liest aus Ihren Werken.
In englischer Sprache.

Elizabeth McCracken is the author of three books: A collection of short stories entitled Here's Your Hat What's Your Hurry (an American Library Association Notable Book of the Year) and two novels, The Giant's House (a finalist for the National Book Award and winner of the Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers Award) and, most recently, Niagara Falls All Over Again (winner of the PEN/New England Winship Award). Reviewing the latter for the New York Times, Janet Maslin admired the novel's "sweet, gravity-defying bounce." McCracken's book, Maslin continues, "brims with fondness for [its] game, playful characters and the lost wonders of their vaudeville world."

Her work has been published in The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, and Travel and Leisure, among other venues, and in 2002 she wrote the introduction for the Modern Library's new edition of Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

She has received awards and grants from Guggenheim Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, American Academy of Arts and Letters, Fine Arts Work Center, and the Bogliasco Foundation. In 1996, she was named one of the Best American Writers Under 40 by Granta magazine.

At the American Academy this Spring, Elizabeth McCracken is at work on her new novel, Marvellous.
