Im Beisein des israelischen Botschafters in Deutschland, Shimon Stein, wird Prof. Dr. Aaron Ciechanover am Dienstag, den 21. Juni 2005 erstmals in Deutschland über seine mit dem Nobelpreis ausgezeichnete Forschung sowie über den Stand der medizinischen Forschung am Technion in Haifa und der Forschung und Technologie in Israel berichten:
"Why proteins have to die so we shall live" - "Warum Proteine sterben müssen, damit wir überleben können" lautet der Titel des Vortrages von Aaron Ciechanover. Doch wird er auch über Gentechnologie als ein wichtiges Mittel zur Bekämpfung von Krebskrankheiten sprechen und mögliche Kosteneinsparungen in der medizinischen Behandlung durch das von ihm erforschte Ubiquitin thematisieren. Unterstützt wird er dabei von Prof. Dr. Yitzhak Apeloig, dem Präsidenten des Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Shimon Stein, dem Botschafter Israels in Deutschland, und Prof. Dr. Helmut Schwarz, Chemiker an der Technischen Universität Berlin und Vizepräsident der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
