Sozial- und Kulturgeschichte der Stadt seit Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts
Populationsbiologie
Mineralphysik
Die Balzan Preise sind mit je einer Million Schweizer Franken dotiert. Die Hälfte des Preisgeldes kommt Nachwuchsförderungsprojekten zugute.
Die Preisverleihung in Bern findet im Schweizer Bundeshaus in Anwesenheit von Bundesrat Pascal Couchepin statt.
