Jährlich erkranken in Deutschland allein über 150 000 Menschen an Sepsis und rund 60 000 sterben daran. Damit ist die Sepsis die dritthäufigste Todesart. Dies ist nur eines der "Probleme" von kritisch kranken Patienten auf der Intensivstation. Multiorgandysfunktions-Syndrom, Schock, akute Herzinsuffizienz und SIRS sind weitere, die auch große Herausforderungen an die Pharmakotherapie und an die Ernährung solcher Patienten stellen. Diese Themen sollen beim kommenden Herbst-Symposium präsentiert und diskutiert werden.
