European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2007

The next EGU General Assembly will be held in Vienna, Austria, 15 - 20 April 2007. This year, we expect to welcome more than 8,000 geoscientists with 4,000 oral presentations, and 7,000 posters.

Many sessions will be dedicated to subjects of great societal importance, such as geohazards, sea level rise and climate change. Again, Vienna 2007 promises to be a true treasure trove of stories from the Earth and Planetary sciences, including New Results from Venus, Water on Mars, Methane in the Arctic, Drilling into seismogenic zones, Climate and hydrology in mountain areas, Seismicity and slope stability, Surprising predictions of distribution of Sea Level Rise.
The press conference programme will be published in the week before Vienna 2007 on the conference website http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2007/general_information_for_the_media.html.
For good tips on what's on in Vienna, you are advised to regularly check this page: http://www.egu-media.net/content/category/3/39/62/

Child Care

For the first time EGU provides its own professional Child Care facilities in the congress center. Two separate rooms will be available close to the lecture room areas but not within the hectic and turmoil of the congress. The service will be provided from Monday, 16 April - Friday, 20 April 2007 split into two time blocks per day.

There will be a discovery lab for young (geo)scientists (age 4 - 12) can conduct experiments with the subjects Hydrological and Rock Cycles.

We hope to welcome you in Vienna.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
