Dr. Markus Rex ist einer der Autoren des im Vierjahresrhythmus erscheinenden internationalen "Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion ", dem Bericht zur Lage der Ozonschicht.
Im Frühjahr 2007 erscheint der sechste Bericht, der unter anderem die Vorhersage für den Zeitpunkt der Erholung der Ozonschicht um zwanzig Jahre nach hinten korrigiert: Wahrscheinlich ist die Ozonschicht erst im Jahr 2070 wieder "gesund".
In einem Vortrag am 25. April wird Markus Rex von der Forschungsstelle Potsdam des Alfred-Wegener-Instituts über dieses und weitere aktuelle Resultate der Ozonforschung berichten.
