Diese Augsburger Tagung, die von der National Science Foundation, der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) und der Pennsylvania State University unterstützt wird, versteht sich als Beitrag zur Vorbereitung des vierten großen "Warwick EPSRC Symposium on Algebraic Geometry" (WAG 07-08 - http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/maths/research/events/2007_2008/symposium/), das im September 2007 am Institut für Mathematik der University of Warwick, Großbritannien, starten und sich bis in den Juli 2008 hinein erstrecken wird.

Die Augsburger Mathematikerin Katrin Wendland zählt mit Miles Reid und Alessio Corti (beide Imperial) sowie mit Gavin Brown (Kent), Gavril Farkas (Austin Texas/HU Berlin), Frank Schreyer (Saarbruecken) und Samir Siksek (Warwick) zum Organisationsteam dieses auf dem Gebiet der Algebraischen Geometrie weltweit bedeutendsten Symposiums.
