MEA Meeting 2008

Microelectrode Arrays (MEAs) are an enabling electrophysiological technology in basic and industrial research and development. Its usefulness is indicated by the increasing number of MEAs delivered to new and experienced users. The wide range of successful electrophysiological applications of MEAs in neuroscience, cardio-vascular research, drug discovery and neurotechnology is reflected by a steady increasing number of publications reporting the use of MEAs.

Our meeting will begin with an afternoon workshop on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Oral and poster presentations will be held from Wednesday to Friday, with the last session ending at noon on Friday. After MEA 2008, participants can conveniently proceed to the 6th FENS Forum of European Neuroscience in Geneva, Switzerland (http://fens2008.neurosciences.asso.fr ).

Participation in the biannual meeting is open to researchers from academic institutions and industry who are interested in new developments and the broader application of MEAs in basic and applied science as well as in industrial drug discovery. In particular, young researchers are encouraged to take the opportunity for meeting the worldwide MEA user community.

MEA 2008 will offer a comprehensive overview of all aspects related to current MEA technique and applications:

We are accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentation for the following topics:

Session 1:Neuronal dynamics and plasticity (information coding and processing in neural networks, neural dynamics and plasticity in neuronal systems)

Session 2: Neuronal engineering (molecular engineering of cellular and subcellular properties of individual neurons, stem-cell derived neuronal cells)

Session 3: Retinal signalling in developing, adult and diseased retina

Session 4: Heart: Electrophysiology and pharmacology in primary and stem cell-derived cardiac myocyte cultures,

Session 5: Pharmacology, Toxicology, Drug Screening with MEA-based assays

Session 6: Signal Analysis and Statistics: Standardization and validation of MEA applications, statistical methods for analyzing multi-electrode recordings, data mining

Session 7: Neurostimulation and neuroprosthetics (MEA-based investigation on principles of neuronal interfacing for therapeutic neurostimulation, neuroprosthesis and brain machine interfaces)

Session 8:Technology: Advances in MEA technology, fabrication and instrumentation (including arrays with CMOS circuitry and hybrid systems integration of nanotechnology, multi-parametric detection of cellular signals).

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
