Veranstalter in Göttingen sind das Albrecht-von-Haller-Institut für Pflanzenwissenschaften und das Johann-Friedrich-Blumenbach-Institut für Zoologie und Anthropologie. Auf dem fünftägigen Programm, das Prof. Dr. S. Robbert Gradstein (Systematische Botanik) und Prof. Dr. Rainer Willmann (Systematik und Evolutionsbiologie der Tiere) realisiert haben, stehen Vorträge, Posterpräsentationen und Workshops. In rund 150 Beiträgen werden renommierte Forscher aus dem In- und Ausland sowie Nachwuchwissenschaftlerinnen und Nachwuchswissenschaftler aktuelle Forschungsarbeiten vorstellen.
Im Rahmen einer öffentlichen Abendveranstaltung am Donnerstag, 10. April 2008, ist ein Vortrag mit Prof. Dr. Tod F. Stuessy vom Department für Botanische Systematik und Evolutionsforschung der Universität Wien (Österreich) geplant. Der Wissenschaftler spricht zum Thema "The importance of systematic biology in a modernizing world". Für musikalische Begleitung mit dem "Dumky Trio" von Antonín Dvorák sorgt das Zara Trio, dem Jan Gispen (Violine), Robbert Gradstein (Cello) und Wout van Veen (Klavier) angehören. Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 20.30 Uhr.
