Am 21. Juni 1933 brannten in Darmstadt die Bücher. - Diesem Thema widmet der renommierte Historiker Professor Dr. Christof Dipper seine Abschiedsvorlesung an der TU Darmstadt. Der fast zwanzig Jahre an der TUD tätige Professor für Neuere und Neueste Geschichte stellt dieses Ereignis in den Kontext der nationalsozialistischen Machtübernahme in Hessen. Die internen Kämpfe zwischen SA und korporierten Studenten sind, so Dippers These, der Hauptgrund dafür, dass die Bücher in Darmstadt nicht wie andernorts am 10. Mai brannten, sondern erst sechs Wochen später.
