10/19/2008 - 10/25/2008 | Dresden

IEEE NSS-MIC 2008 Nuclear Science Symposium - Medical Imaging Conference - 16th International Workshop on Room-Temperature Semiconductor X-ray and Gamma-ray Detectors

Gemeinsame Konferenz von IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.), NPSS (Nuclear & Plasma Sciences Society) und dem lokalen Partner FZD (Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf).

Main scientific topics of the conference in Dresden will be:
- high energy physics, radiation instrumentation, software, and their applications
- physical, technological and mathematical aspects of radiotracer-based medical imaging
- new solid-state radiation detectors and imaging arrays; forum for discussion of the state-of-the-art of the material development, characterization, device technology, electronics and applications

An exciting and comprehensive program highlighting many state-of-the-art scientific and technological advances is planned. The subjects include radiation detection, detector materials, electronics, and image reconstruction algorithms as well as complex radiation detector and imaging systems for research and applications in the fields of medicine, biology, material science and physics. Interdisciplinary research will be given a special emphasis.
Sharing research and experiences and openly discussing problems will be strongly encouraged in all scientific sessions.
This year the program will include the 16th International Workshop on Room Temperature Semiconductor X- and Gamma-Ray Detectors (RTSD). Topics covered by this workshop correlate directly with numerous areas of interest to participants in both the NSS and MIC.

The 2008 IEEE NSS/MIC/RTSD program promises exceptional advances in radiation detector R&D, nuclear science, high energy physics, and medical imaging, as well as multiple opportunities for networking, education, and discussion in a scientifically and socially stimulating, attractive environment.

With more than 2,000 abstract submissions, the 2008 IEEE NSS/MIC/RTSD will be the largest meeting ever in this series of conferences. The program consists of 516 oral and 484 poster papers, which are presented in two oral plenary sessions, 70 NSS parallel sessions, and two poster sessions. The program chairs are organizing the accepted papers into a 5-day NSS program with 5 parallel sessions and a four full-day MIC and RTSD program with one session each with regular oral and poster (for NSS and MIC) presentations. The daily program includes two 90-minute sessions in the morning (8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon) and two 2-hour sessions (1:30 PM to 6:00 PM) in the afternoon. An excellent set of short courses will be given at the start of the NSS/MIC programs, covering a wide range of nuclear and medical technology topics.
NSS: Having received a record breaking number of over 1,000 abstracts from scientists working on numerous NSS topics, the NSS program was expanded from Monday to Friday, with five parallel sessions running at the same time. One of the true highlights of the symposium will be two NSS Plenary Sessions on Monday, October 20, 2008 (09:00-12:00) and on Friday, October 24, 2008 (10:30-12:30), where prominent experts and leaders in their field will shed a light on the most outstanding current and planned research frontiers.
MIC: This year 762 contributed papers have been submitted, marking a new record in the history of MIC. During the MIC as well as the joint sessions 99 of them will be presented orally; 519 contributions will be discussed during two poster session.

Satellite workshops will be offered, one before and one after the conference week, by two of the largest and most renowned laboratories in our fields: DESY Hamburg and Forschungszentrum Jülich (located near Cologne). The workshops will cover state-of-the-art topics of the laboratories' current research. All conference registrants are welcome to participate.

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
