Einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand der Diskussion und die Perspektiven der IvD gibt Prof. Dr. Rudolf Tauber, Zentralinstitut für Laboratoriumsmedizin und Pathobiochemie der Charité, Berlin. Anhand der Prävention kardiovaskulärer Erkrankungen zeigt Prof. Dr. Michael Walter von der Charité, wie die IvD in der Praxis eingesetzt werden kann. Die zukünftige Bedeutung der molekularen Diagnostik skizziert Prof. Dr. Petra Gastmeier, Institut für Hygiene und Umweltmedizin der Charité, am Beispiel der modernen Krankenhaushygiene. Die Frage, ob das Point-of-Care-Testing in Zukunft das "klassische" Labor ersetzt, behandelt Prof. Dr. Cornelius Knabbe, Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus, Stuttgart. Prof. Dr. Manfred Dietel, Institut für Pathologie der Charité, erweitert den Bogen von der akuten Therapie zum prädiktiven Einsatz der Molekularpathologie und ihren Einfluss auf therapeutische Entscheidungen in Onkologie und Infektion. Abschließend beleuchtet Prof. Dr. Bertram Häussler, IGES Institut GmbH, den Einsatz innovativer Diagnostika im Spannungsfeld ökonomischer Kosten-Nutzen-Analysen. Prof. Häussler übernimmt auch die Moderation der Veranstaltung.
