An ENIGMA, der geheimnisvollen Codiermaschine der Deutschen, scheitern alle Bemühungen der hochkarätigen alliierten Wissenschaftler, den Funkverkehr der U-Boot-Flotte zu entschlüsseln. Die einzige Hoffnung besteht in dem Kryptoanalytiker und Mathematiker Tom Jericho. In einem Wettlauf mit der Zeit muss Jericho das Rätsel der ENIGMA lösen.
Im Anschluss an den Film wird Dr. Max Gebhardt vom Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik über die Technik der Verschlüsselungsmaschine ENIGMA und die Geschichte ihrer Entschlüsselung referieren.
Die Filmreihe wird im Wintersemester 2008/2009 fortgesetzt.
