Die Mechatronik befasst sich mit der Entwicklung von Systemen mit mechanischen, hydraulischen, elektrischen und informationsverarbeitenden Komponenten. Sie nutzt also sowohl das Fachwissen aus dem Maschinenbau als auch der Elektrotechnik, der Informatik, der Steuerungs- und Regelungstechnik sowie der Simulationstechnik. Ziel diese interdisziplinären Ansatzes ist die Sicherstellung einer optimalen Systemfunktion.
