Wohin entwickelt sich das Weltsystem? Für solche Prognosen sind adäquate Vor-stellungen von der Geschichte des Weltsystems erforderlich. Noch konzentriert sich die Diskussion meist auf die europäische Welteroberung und die Dynamik zwischen Zentrum, Peripherie und Semiperipherie. Doch wir sehen neue Tendenzen: Eine Stärkung des asiatisch-pazifischen Raumes, aber auch eine zunehmende Bedeu-tung aufstrebender Mächte in anderen Regionen wie Indien, Brasilien und Südafrika. Werden ganz neue hegemoniale Strukturen entstehen? Sind wir auf dem Weg zu einem umfassenden Multilateralismus? Welche Chancen hat ein Welt-Föderalismus?
