Education and Conflict: Perspectives from Israel/Palestine

Despite all international efforts, in which the Georg Eckert Institute has been involved for some time, the situation between Israel and the Palestinian Territories has not been defused. Tensions between different societal groups are also on the increase within Israel itself. In spite of the explosive situation in the region, it remains a central aim of the GEI's work to support initiatives and education reform in the Middle East and other world regions that are intended to work towards de-escalating conflicts bewteen states and within societies. With this in mind, several internationally renowned experts will meet in Brunswick from 6-7 October 2010 in order to present new developments in the area of education within the region and to work on future perspectives at the conference 'Education and Conflict: Perspectives from Israel/Palestine'. The working language of the conference will be English.
