EUROSAFE Forum - Innovation in Nuclear Safety and Security

The EUROSAFE Forum is part of the EUROSAFE approach, developed by the European Technical Safety Organisations Network (ETSON) and its partners. It includes two further elements: the EUROSAFE Tribune and the EUROSAFE website.

The general aim of EUROSAFE is to contribute to fostering the convergence of technical nuclear safety practices in a broad European context. This is done by providing technical safety and research organisations, safety authorities, power utilities, the rest of the industry, international organisations and non-governmental organisations with a platform for the presentation of recent analyses and R&D in the field of nuclear safety, to share experiences, exchange technical and scientific opinions, and conduct debates on key issues in the fields of nuclear safety and radiation protection.

The EUROSAFE Forum 2010 focuses in its plenary part on “Innovation in Nuclear Safety and Security” from the point of view of international organisations, European utilities, authorities and European Technical Safety Organisations (TSOs). The seminars present the latest results of work in the field of nuclear installation safety and research, radiation safety, waste management as well as nuclear material and nuclear facilities security carried out by ETSON members and their partners worldwide.

A high level of nuclear safety is a priority in the global use of nuclear energy. Technical Safety Organisations play an important role in contributing to that objective through appropriate approaches to major safety issues as part of their assessments and research activities.

The challenges to nuclear safety are international. Changes in underlying technologies, the impact of electricity market deregulation, demands for improved safety and safety management, the ageing of nuclear facilities, waste management, maintaining and improving scientific and technical knowledge, and the need for greater transparency – these are all issues where the value of an international approach is gaining increasing recognition.

The enlarged European Union of 27 countries, of which 13 use nuclear energy, will require closer collaboration between all technical and scientific organisations involved in nuclear safety and even more convergence in European nuclear safety practices. EUROSAFE aims to respond to these needs.

Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
