In ihrem Vortrag wird Prof. Zariphopoulou sowohl auf Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie, Differentialgleichungen und stochastische Kontrolltheorie als auch auf Portfoliomanagement, Kalkulation von Derivaten sowie Renten- und Fondsmanagement eingehen. Zudem erläutert sie, wie sich die aktuelle Wirtschaftskrise in der Finanzmathematik widerspiegelt. Thaleia Zariphopoulou ist seit 2009 am Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance der University of Oxford (Großbritannien) tätig. Gleichzeitig hat die Wissenschaftlerin eine Professur an der University of Texas at Austin (USA) inne.
Die Veranstaltung mit Prof. Zariphopoulou ist der dritte Vortrag in der Reihe „Forschen für Morgen. Zwölf Antworten aus zwölf Disziplinen der Wissenschaft“, die das Gleichstellungsbüro initiiert hat. Hier berichten renommierte Forscherinnen aus unterschiedlichen Fachgebieten über ihre Arbeiten. Die öffentlichen Vortragsveranstaltungen, die bis zum Oktober dieses Jahres stattfinden, sind ein Beitrag zum Jubiläumsprogramm aus Anlass des 625‐jährigen Bestehens der Universität Heidelberg.
