Das Lehrangebot des ZHSF-Methodenseminars (seit 1980 bekannt als "ZHSF-Herbstseminar") ist modular strukturiert, d.h. es besteht aus in sich geschlossenen Lehreinheiten, die thematisch aufeinander abgestimmt sind. Die Module des ZHSF-Methodenseminars werden teils virtuell im Internet, teils vor Ort am GESIS-Standort Köln angeboten.
Virtuell werden angeboten: das dreimonatige Basismodul "Forschungsmethoden" (einschließlich der Promodule "Forschen und Lehren in digitalen Netzwerken" sowie zu "Datenbankmanagement" und "Deskriptive Statistik") und das zweimonatige "Follow-Up-Seminar" zu den Basismodulen.
