Eine Kernaufgabe vieler medizinischer Forschungsverbünde ist die Durchführung von klinischen Studien sowie die Sammlung von Daten und Materialien von Patienten oder Probanden für Register und Biomaterialbanken. Dazu ist es notwendig, Patienten zu rekrutieren und über die geplante Forschung und ihre Ziele aufzuklären sowie in geeigneter Form über die erzielten Ergebnisse zu berichten. 'Forschung zu kommunizieren' ist demzufolge eine wichtige Aufgabe medizinischer Forschungsverbünde.
