This presentation will focus on describing the ongoing process of development and evaluation of an intervention to promote walking in sedentary adults, which has produced large increases in objectively measured behaviour. The presentation will also describe how a qualitative evaluation of a volunteer-led walking group scheme for older adults run by Coventry City Council has highlighted problems in acceptability. The presentation will conclude by discussing issues arising in adapting and refining our existing intervention of proven efficacy for delivery by different providers and to different populations.
