Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Enghardt vom Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf erforscht zusammen mit Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern kernphysikalische Vorgänge, die während der Ionentherapie im Körper der Krebspatienten stattfinden. Er entwickelte mit seinem Team ein Verfahren, das die Wechselwirkung der Ionenstrahlen mit dem Gewebe während der Behandlung sichtbar macht.
Prof. Dr. Edda Klipp vom Institut für Biologie und Theoretische Biophysik an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin entwickelt mit ihren Kooperationspartnern mathematische Modelle für Zellteilung und Zellkommunikation. Solche Modelle erklären, wie und wo Medikamente im Körper der Menschen wirken und tragen so zu einer effektiven Krebsbehandlung bei.
Im Anschluss an die beiden Kurzvorlesungen diskutieren die Experten ihre unterschiedlichen Ansätze nicht nur miteinander, sondern auch mit dem Publikum.
