Die Fähigkeit eines Organismus verlorene Körperteile zu ersetzen ist bei vielen Wirbeltieren in der Evolution abhanden gekommen. Jedoch besitzen Amphibien wie z. B. der Salamander Axolotl und wirbellose Tiere (z. B. Plattwürmer) weiterhin die Möglichkeit der Regeneration. Welcher Mechanismus steckt hinter der Regeneration von Gliedmaßen und dem Rückenmark beim Axolotl? Lässt sich dieses Wissen eines Tages vielleicht auch auf den Menschen übertragen? Diese und andere Fragen werden in dem Vortrag erläutert.
