Die Führung vermittelt einen Eindruck von der Architektur des WZB, die Alt- und Neubauelemente auf ungewöhnliche Art kombiniert und damit einen architektonischen Kontrapunkt im Ostteil des Berliner Tiergartenviertels darstellt. Im Anschluss an die Führung liest Silvia Höhne ausgewählte Passagen aus den "Großstadt-Dokumenten". Dieser insgesamt 50 Bände umfassende Klassiker der deutschsprachigen Metropolenforschung entstand zwischen 1904 und 1908. Konzipiert als "soziologischer Reiseführer" zeichnen die "Großstadt-Dokumente" ein Bild u. a. des Lebens im Berlin des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts und erwecken unterschiedlichste soziale Milieus wieder zum Leben.
