Anhand exemplarischer Beispiele aus Mayen und Köln stellt der Vortrag die römische und frühmittelalterliche Glasproduktion im Rheinland und in Nordgallien dar. Nicht nur die Verbreitung der Glashütten zwischen Ärmelkanal und Taunus verändert sich im 1. Jahrtausend nach Christus grundlegend. Auch Gefäßformen, Farben und die chemische Zusammensetzung des Rohmaterials stellen jeweils zeittypische Charakteristika dar.
Der Vortrag von Dr. Martin Grünewald findet im Vortragssaal des RGZM im Kurfürstlichen schloss statt.
