Die Außenstelle Damaskus der Orient-Abteilung des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts zeigt die frühen fotografischen Aufnahmen des deutschen Orientreisenden Hermann Burchardt (1857–1909), der im Jahre 1895 als einer der ersten Forscher Südsyrien bereiste und fotografisch dokumentierte. Präsentiert werden ausgewählte Motive dieser Reise, denen moderne Aufnahmen der Monumente gegenübergestellt werden. Die Ausstellung wird vom 17. März bis 8. April 2012 in der Abguss-Sammlung Antiker Plastik des Instituts für Klassische Archäologie der Freien Universität Berlin gezeigt.
