Tropische Regenwälder sind die artenreichsten Gebiete auf der Erde. Diese Hotspots der Biodiversität beherbergen nicht nur unzählige Tier- und Pflanzenarten, sondern auch zahlreiche, oft noch kaum bekannte Viren. Wie kann eine hohe biologische Vielfalt das Vorkommen bestimmter Viren beeinflussen, und wie wirkt sich die Zerstörung dieser hochkomplexen Ökosysteme auf die Verbreitung von Viren aus? Der Vortrag zeigt dies anhand von Beispielen aus den tropischen Regenwäldern Afrikas und Südamerikas.
