Prof. Dr. Angelika Zahrnt ist Ehrenvorsitzende des BUND (Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland / Friends of the Earth Germany), Mitglied des Rates für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (RNE) und Trägerin des Umweltpreises der Deutschen Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU). Am 15. Mai 2012 spricht sie im Rahmen der „Helmholtz Environmental Lecture“ auf Deutsch über aktuelle Ressourcenkrisen, mit denen unsere Gesellschaft konfrontiert ist. 2010 gab sie gemeinsam mit Irmi Seidl das wachstumskritische Buch "Postwachstumsgesellschaft" heraus.
