In verschiedenen Wissenschaften gibt es heute einen Informationsbegriff, aber eine einheitliche Erklärung scheint bislang nicht zu existieren. Im Vortrag werden Beispiele dafür vorgestellt, wie Information sich Informatikern zeigt. Neben den klassischen Ansätzen von Shannon und Kolmogorov zur Definition von Information wird es um die algorithmische Schwierigkeit gehen, in gegebenen Daten bestimmte Eigenschaften festzustellen.
Herr Professor Rolf Klein hat in Münster und Erlangen-Nürnberg Mathematik und Mathematische Logik studiert. Nach seiner Promotion 1982 und Habilitation 1989 war er seit 1989 Universitätsprofessor für Praktische Informatik an der Universität-GH Essen, später an der Fernuniversität Hagen. Seit 2000 hat Herr Klein eine Universitätsprofessur für Theoretische Informatik an der Universität Bonn inne.
