Im Mittelpunkt des Semesterabschlusskonzertes steht das virtuose und berühmte Konzert für Trompete und Orchester von Joseph Haydn. Weltweit müssen Trompeter dieses Werk als Probespiel für ihre Orchesterkarriere wählen, entsprechend „gefürchtet“ ist es. Dieser Herausforderung stellt sich Jochen Schnepf. Er ist Stipendiat der Hochschule für Musik und einer der besten jungen Trompeter.
Umrahmt wird das Trompetenkonzert von Beethovens Ouvertüre der Schauspielmusik zu Goethes Trauerspiel „Egmont“ sowie der „Tragischen Ouvertüre“ von Johannes Brahms. Das Konzert wird von Felix Schauren dirigiert, ebenfalls Student der Hochschule für Musik. Der Zwanzigjährige ist selbst auch Trompeter und Preisträger mehrerer Wettbewerbe.
