Abstract: In this talk I will review the recent progress in our understanding of the interaction between light and nanomechanical vibrations. This interaction is brought about by the radiation pressure force and is now being explored in a large variety of systems. After giving a broad overview, I will focus on our ongoing theoretical research into the possibilities offered by so-called optomechanical arrays. These are systems (based on photonic crystals) that will allow to study the interplay of photons and phonons that move on a lattice. Among the many effects that become addressable there are the synchronization of mechanical oscillators, the implementation of an optomechanical Dirac Hamiltonian, and the generation of artificial gauge fields for photons.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
