Advanced bioenergy carriers are considered a very promising technology for the promotion of the large-scale implementation of bioenergy, which accelerate innovation in cutting edge European low carbon technologies, increase Europe‘s security of energy supply and give a boost to the European energy industry sector.
The projects started with the analysis of potential feedstock for the investigated technologies fast pyrolysis, hydrothermal carbonisation, catalytic pyrolysis and torrefaction. Subsequently, the research focused on the logistics and end use applications spanning small to large scale boilers, gasifiers, CHPs and refineries to produce heat, power, fuels and biochemicals. This was complemented by economic and environmental evaluation of the value chains and the strong support of ISO standardisation.
The European Commission, represented by DG RTD, sponsors the two collaborative research projects with € 13 million for 4 years. The 34 partners involved are coming from
universities, research institutes and industry of 15 countries and have invested additional € 5 million in developing new ways to convert biomass feedstock into energy and valuable material.

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
