„Compliance“ als Sammelbegriff für Strategien und Systeme zur Verhinderung von Normverstössen ist längst zu einem gängigen Terminus im deutschsprachigen Wirtschaftsraum geworden.
Der ursprünglich aus der angloamerikanischen Bankenwelt stammende Begriff tangiert eine Vielzahl heterogener Rechtsgebiete, wie etwa Bankenrecht, Unternehmensrecht, Steuerrecht, Datenschutzrecht, IT-Recht, Strafrecht, Europa- und EWR-Recht. Neben Banken sind insbesondere Unternehmen, Versicherungs- und Fondsgesellschaften sowie die öffentliche Verwaltung mit der Thematik Compliance konfrontiert. „Compliance“ als Querschnittsmaterie geht allerdings weit über die blosse Einhaltung von Gesetzen hinaus.
