Der Ausbau der informationstechnischen Infrastruktur im Bereich sämtlicher kommunaler Leistungen bringt für die Kommunen zahlreiche Herausforderungen mit sich. Eng verknüpft ist das Thema insbesondere mit allen Fragen der Datenverwertung und Datennutzung. Hier spielen vor allem Open Data-Konzepte als Teilbereich der verwaltungswissenschatlichen Diskussion um "Open Government" eine große Rolle, die ebenfalls im einen Gegenstand Veranstaltung stehen sollen.
