Rebecca Harms´ keynote speech at the Ukrainicum will build a bridge between the political history and Development of Ukraine and her personal encounters, insights and experiences. Ukraine´s reform path out of corruption and the annexation of Crimea as well as the war in Eastern Ukraine are the dominating challenges in Ukraine. Key for successfully facing these, is the active and critical support by the European Union on all levels. Therefore, Rebecca Harms will focus on the fi ght in and with Ukraine against two threats: Putin from the outside and corruption from the inside. Other topics which she will touch upon are the relations between Europe and Ukraine and their latest success stories, the visa liberalisation and the association agreement.
Rebecca Harms is a Member of the European Parliament in the Greens/EFA group since 2004, which she chaired from 2009 until 2016. She is Co-President of the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) and one of the strongest European voices on the Eastern Partnership.
