Ziel dieser Konferenz ist es, drei große Expeditionen vorzustellen, die auf unterschiedliche Weise zur Erforschung der Nachhaltigkeit beitragen: Tara, ein Polarschoner, der seit 2007 über die Ozeane reist und die Forschung zum Schutz der Umwelt vorantreibt, Energy Observer, das weltweit erste Wasserstoffschiff, das zum "französischen Botschafter der Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung" ernannt wurde, und MOSAIC, die größte arktische Forschungsexpedition aller Zeiten, die im September 2019 mit dem deutschen Forschungseisbrecher Polarstern in See stechen soll.
